At a public meeting in Ramban, 150 km from here, in connection with the party's ongoing campaign against the AFSPA, former minister Peer Mohammad Hussain alleged that the Congress-National Conference coalition was helpless in protecting the lives of people.

He alleged that during the last six months cases of human rights violations by the security forces have increased manifold.
