THE SECOND phase of the Jalabhishek Abhiyan (water conservation campaign) at the block level began in the State from today. Earlier, district level Sammelans were organised between April 6 and 7 under the chairmanship of the in-charge ministers in all the 48 districts.

With an objective to preserve every single drop of water and ensuring its optimum use, a Statewide water conservation drive was launched from April 2.
Now, in the second phase from today, it has been started in all of the 313 development blocks of the State. Under this, Jal Sammelans (Water conventions) will be organised until April 13 in the whole of the State.
The Jal Sammelans will be attended by MPs, MLAs, block-level office-bearers of various political parties, office-bearers and members of Janpad Panchayats and sarpanchs of concerning Gram Panchayats.
Besides, sub-division level officers of Government departments and other executive officers, block-level office bearers and members of bankers coordinating committees, representatives of voluntary and non-Government institutions and members of Jalabhishek cooperating teams will also participate in the conventions.
Participants will also be apprised of various aspects related to the necessity of Jalabhishek Campaign, its strategy, plan and implementation. They will also be informed about alternatives for water conservation and protection and participants’ contribution for this purpose.
Simultaneous with the holding of these conventions, the implementation works for water conservation will begin in development blocks.
