Dar, who is second in command in Hizb, was arrested from south Kashmir after police got inputs that the dreaded militant had crossed over from Pakistan and had taken shelter in the area, official sources said.

He was looking after the coordination among Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizb and was considered as close confidant of Hizbul chief Syed Sallahuddin.

Dar, who was arrested by the state police in 1992 and was released in 1999, crossed over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in 2000.
