Sensex up 40 points in early trading

The benchmark Sensex maintained its upward trend on the BSE to hit another high of 13,323.52 points in early trade.

The benchmark Sensex maintained its upward trend on the Bombay Stock Exchange to hit yet another new high of 13,323.52 points in early trade on sustained buying by funds in heavyweights blue-chip stocks.

The 30-share index, Sensex, which gained more than 145 points on Friday, recorded another 40.61 points to touch a high of 13,323.52 in first five minutes of trading.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange, Nifty also rose by 18.20 points to trade at 3,852.95.

The major support came in from heavy-weights like Tata Motors, Maruti, Reliance Communications, HDFC Ltd, Reliance Industries, Reliance Energy, Grasim Industries, Bajaj Auto, Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy, BHEL, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Cipla, Ranbaxy Lab and State Bank of India.
