Seven candidates file nominations in Assam

A total of seven hopefuls have submitted their papers for the ensuing Assam Assembly elections so far.

A total of seven hopefuls have submitted their papers for the ensuing Assam Assembly elections so far.

According to state election department sources, six nominations were filed on Thursday.

Among those who filed the nominations were Bimalanghsu Roy (BJP) from Silchar assembly constituency, Hema Prabha Saikia (Cong) from Nazira, Jiten Gogoi (Ind) from Bokakhat and Prabin Gogoi (AGP) from Khumtai.

The sources said that one independent candidate from Guwahati (East) and one CPI (M) candidate from Naharkatia also filed their papers.

An independent candidate from Doomdooma constituency filed the first nomination paper on Wednesday.
