Seven persons were on Saturday killed when a jeep in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Doswada village in Tapi district of Gujarat, police said.

The mishap occurred on National Highway-8 when the jeep driver tried to overtake the truck and lost control over the vehicle, they said.

All the occupants, including the jeep driver, were killed on the spot, police said, adding the deceased have not been identified yet.

The truck driver has been detained, they said, adding further investigations are on.
