Diganta Guha finds that Satish Kaushik's humour doesn't bore you.

Watching a comedy means you leave your logic on the backburner. You look for some masti. But that doesn’t mean the humour should get on your nerves. Shaadi Se Pehle, Satish Kaushik’s first attempt at tickling the funny bone, doesn’t bore you. You remain glued to your seat enjoying every bit of the humour.
The story is about Akshaye Khanna who sees problems where there are none. He thinks he has cancer, walks out of fiancee Ayesha Takia’s life, tries to get her to develop hatred for him, gets involved with model Mallika Sherawat and then realises his mistake. The film revolves around how he tackles his problems.

Shaadi Se Pehle reminds one of David Dhawan’s Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, but that was stretched. Thanks to Sanjay Chhel’s (MPKK was his story too) tight screenplay and Kaushik’s able direction, Shaadi… lives up to expectations. The script is so consistent that even Rajpal Yadav’s stereotyped act is tolerable (it’s time this guy changed his style).
What is praiseworthy is the film’s look. Cinematographer Johny Lall makes Mumbai look like Singapore at times. Himesh Reshammiya’s music appeals more when you see the film than listening to the soundtrack, especially the "Bijuria" and the "Mundeya" tracks.
Akshaye is a treat to watch. Post Hungama, he is creating a niche in comedy. His sense of timing is perfect and he is ably supported by Anupam Kher, Suniel Shetty (he tries his hand at comedy with success this time), Aftab Shivdasani and of course Mallika Sherawat. A special word for Mallika — she does sizzle and gives her fans reasons to ogle. One wishes, though, that she had more opportunity to act. Ayesha looks as pretty as ever.
Shaadi Se Pehle is a time-pass movie and recommended if you are hunting for a chill-out zone.
