Shahbano's husband dies at 93 in Indore

Mohammad Ahmed Khan, husband of Shahbano died in Indore.

Mohammad Ahmed Khan, an advocate and husband of Shahbano, in whose favour the Supreme Court ruling on the issue of divorce triggered a major controversy, died in Indore on Tuesday.

Khan, who had a high fever for the past few days, was 93.

He leaves behind his advocate son Zafar Khan and four daughters from his second wife who died a few years ago.

Shahbano was his first wife who also passed away sometime back.

The apex court ruling in favour of Shahbano on the issue of divorce against the Muslim Personal Law had created a major controversy leading to then Rajiv Gandhi Government to formulate a law against the court order.
