A new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) will be set up in Shillong.

IIM-Bangalore has started examining the viability of setting up a campus abroad.

This was stated on Monday by Minister of State for Human Resource Development MAA Fatmi in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

Fatmi also said the National Council of Educational Research and Training had begun the process of developing textbooks based on the National Curriculum Framework 2005.

In the first phase, textbooks for Classes 1, 3, 6, 9 and 11 will be introduced from the academic session 2006-07.
