MORE THAN 400 passengers boarded the Varanasi-Delhi bound Shiv Ganga Express for various destinations on the first-day of its halt at Maduadeeh railway station here on Friday.

As per the directions of the Railway Board, Shiv Ganga Express (both up and down) took a five-minute halt at Maduadeeh railway station on Friday. Around 150 passengers descended from the train in the morning while more than 400 passengers boarded the train for various destinations such as Allahabad, Kanpur and New Delhi.
Sources said that the originating and terminating point of Shiv Ganga Express will remain Varanasi Cantonment railway station. It may be noted that earlier, the Railway authorities had decided to change the originating and terminating point of Shiv Ganga Express from Varanasi Cantonment railway station to Maduadeeh railway station, but due to public and political pressure the decision had to be reconsidered.
As a result of this, the Railway authorities decided to give a five-minute halt to Shiv Ganga Express at Maduadeeh railway station from Friday. Authorities of Maduadeeh railway station had opened a new booking counter for smooth distribution of tickets. An additional booth was also opened at platform one to address the queries of the passengers.
Meanwhile, sources said that the originating and terminating point of Varanasi-Pune bound Gyan Ganga Express will change from Varanasi Cantonment railway station to Maduadeeh railway station from March 22 this month. Besides, the starting and terminating point of Varanasi-Allahabad bound passenger train changed from Varanasi Cantonment railway station to Maduadeeh railway station from Friday.
