Shoaib looking forward to play his part

Refuting allegations that he was "scared" to play in India, Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar on Tuesday said he would surely join the team as soon as he recovers from the injury.

"It (injury) will takes 3-4 weeks to heal. Hopefully if I get fit before the third Test match or before the one-day series I will definitely come India and play," he told a Indian television news channel.

"It is out of question that I am scared to come to India or I am full of fear. That is not true."

Shoaib pulled out of the Pakistan squad citing fitness problems, a day before the team for the Test series against India was to be announced.

The player, who had been fined $500 for "erratic behaviour" during the tour of Australia only 24-hours before he decided to pull out, said he was a thorough professional and had been there whenever the team needed him.

"I am very professional and disciplined. Whenever the team needs me I am always there. The manager's report has also said the same thing."

On former captain Waqar Younis being made the bowling coach of the team, Shoaib said it was a very good decision as his experience would of great help to the young bowlers.

"Waqar can be a very good coach. He has a vast knowledge of cricket and can be of great help to the youngsters.

"He is a great help for me as well as I have played with him for a few years and he has helped me in improving my run up to reduce the number of no balls I used to bowl," he added.
