Shooting contest on February 19

THE BHOPAL Municipal Corporation (BMC), for the first time, will organise the Mayor’s Cup Rifle Shooting Competition in association with the Bhopal Rifle Club (BRC) at 25th Battalion’s firing range, Bhadbhada road, on February 19.
Talking to the mediapersons today, Mayor Sunil Sood said that the objective of organising the event is to promote rifle shooting in the City. “The BMC has been organising a number of sports events. This competition is one of them”, said Sood.
The competition will be organised for both men and women and the participants will be allowed to use their own weapons. The competition is restricted to 0.22 bore in categories of telescopic sight and open. All the participants will be firing from the distance of 50 m.
According to the competition convener Mahira Salamuddin, marks will be allocated on the basis of application and grouping coupled equally on the target.
The winners will be awarded certificates and trophies. Sood will distribute prizes to the winners the same day. Aruneshwar Singdeo of the Bhopal Rifle Club expected that the competition would witness a huge participation.
It is an initiative taken by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation and the BRC will provide every possible support for the success of the competition, he added. The entry forms are available at India Gun House and Shadab Mohammad.
