The newly acquired business would be integrated with Siemens' power transmission and distribution business and the 108 Elpro employees, comprising officers as well as workers would be part of Siemens Ltd, the company said.

The isolator division of Elpro International produces high quality isolators, used in transmission and distribution lines for isolation of the electrical circuits during maintenance or breakdown.

Elpro International Ltd, which has its interests in surge arresters, metal oxide varistors, isolators and permanent magnets, registered a turnover around Rs 32 crore last fiscal.

"This new business will enable us to close the gap in our PTD division and further strengthen our position in the growing power sector," Siemens managing director J Schubert said.

Siemens' PTD division provides products, systems and solutions for power system control and energy management.
