Sinha all praise for Rahul
BJP'S Star Rajya Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha has again sought to kick up a row within his party, reports Shekhar Iyer.
BJP'S Star Rajya Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha has again sought to kick up a row within his party by describing Rahul Gandhi as “sharp and intelligent” and saying that knives are out for his party chief Rajnath Singh.
“Rahul is sharp, intelligent and if he works hard with the right kind of guidance, I am sure he will get the results one day, if not now,” Sinha said in an interview to weekly newsmagazine The Sunday Indian.
Reflecting on the BJP, he said, “No one can see the cracks, the walls are covered with posters. I keep thinking but don’t say a word. Here you are not allowed to speak. Forget about speaking the truth.”
Asked if the knives were out for Rajnath, Sinha said: “It is true. Unfortunately, there are some people who are working against the party president. They keep trying. In fact, it was their move that prompted Atalji to raise the issue of ‘respecting elders’ in the organisation at the BJP national executive (in Dehradun)”.
Sinha, who has previously criticised the BJP leadership on many issues but not so openly, said: “There is this ambitious group of people who had been consistently working. But they have finally been identified and they will be kept in check. These leaders are cleverly focusing on the age factor. Being young can never be the criteria. Josh ke saath hosh ka sangam zaroori hain.”
In response to a question, Sinha said Arun Jaitley was “not my leader. He is merely a colleague and a karyakarta (functionary) of the BJP”.
