Six aides of Chhota Rajan, Salem held in UP

Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested six operatives of underworld dons Chhota Rajan, Abu Salem and Ejaz Lakdawala.

They were assigned to carry out abductions and killings in the state.

Three pistols, a hand-made gun, live cartridges, mobile hand sets, ATMs and a sedan car and a motorcylcle without number plates were seized during the operation, STF officials said.

They said the STF had received information that some "active members" of the three gangs had been visiting the state capital to effect kidnappings and killings and had also smuggled a cache of arms and ammunition in for various mafia dons and criminals.

While two of the arrested gang members, Rajesh Kumar alias Bhau and Chand Mohammad, were Mumbai-based, the rest were from Uttar Pradesh, the officials said.

Based on information collected about them, an STF team arrested four operatives - Bhau, Chand, Nabi Ahmed and Raj Kumar Pandey - from Laxman Mela Road, they said.

Two other gang members were arrested from Shahnazaf Road area after the four disclosed their whereabouts during interrogation.
