'Some mistakes' in Mumbai electoral rolls: CEC

CEC TS Krishnamurthy has said there might be 'some mistakes' in the Mumbai voter lists and necessary action was being taken by the EC.

Chief Election Commissioner TS Krishnamurthy said on Friday that there might be 'some mistakes' in the voter lists in Mumbai and necessary remedial action was being taken by the EC.

"It is quite likely that there were some mistakes," Krishnamurthy said, expressing concern. Complaints had been received from Hyderabad and Bangalore too.

Replying to queries at a press conference at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, the Chief Election Commissioner said an NGO, 'Agni', had taken special efforts together with the state's chief electoral officer for making voter lists available.

Seeking cooperation from all, Krishnamurthy urged political parties and voters to be vigilant about deletion of the names in electoral rolls.

To a question, the CEC said that the Election Commission had made arrangements to make electoral rolls available on the EC website.
