He complained to the central vigilance commissioner (CVC) about the official's reportedly ill-gotten wealth, leading to CBI raids on the latter's commercial establishments and residential premises on Monday.

The son was upset because his father married a woman half his age, CBI sources said.

Anand (name changed), 28, shot the complaint letter against his father, 57, to the CVC soon after his marriage with a 28-year-old woman. The CVC immediately conveyed the matter to the CBI's Lucknow unit for action.

CBI sleuths simultaneously raided six properties owned by the official in Mirzapur and Delhi on Monday and recovered assets not accounted for.

The raiding party found cash in bank lockers, besides papers on a R27-lakh property deal.

The CBI raided a palatial building and a three-storeyed house in Mirzapur, an "impressive" house in Delhi's Palam area and an under-construction commercial complex in Mirzapur.

The official also owned a big godown in Mirzapur's Patharaia industrial area, sources said.
