While her film Taxi No 9 2 11 is all slated for month end release, Sonali Kulkarni will be galloping to Italy for the worldwide release of her Italian film Fucco Di Sume.
After a brilliant performance in Dansh, the lovely lady is really upbeat about Taxi No 9 2 11 and her Italian film.
Her range is immense. She transforms into various characters in various films with aplomb. Excited about the Italian film, in which she shares screen space with legendary actor Omar Sharif and Italian hero Massi Miliano (the prince in the film), Sonali says, "The locals were amazing and I had a great time. My producer, Sergio Seapaguini, and his family made my staya memorable one. The director, Lamberto Lambertini,is so muchan Indian at heart. He knows India in and out - each gali(street)and muhalla (colony). The film will release soon and I will be flying to Italy in the first week of March."
What about the Indian release? She informs, "Yes,it'll be released in India as well, as Sergio and Lamberto have promised!"
What is the film all about? "Fucco Di Sume (Fire in my Heart) is basically a love story between a prince and a fisherman's girl. I play Grazziella in the film. Massi Miliano is Omar Sharif (the king)'s grandson, who goes missing. He meets me and we both fall in love. The film is set in the backdrop of the war between Italy and Germany. In this chaotic violence, everyone is in search of peace and our love blooms," she says.

"Indian audiences will not be able to recognise me after my transformation as an Italian fisherman's daughter," she adds.
Indeed, the make up and her transformation are mind blowing. She smiles and enthuses, "Now I've become quite fluentin the Italian language.I underwent a 5-week coaching by Serena. In fact, my unit helped me pick up the language all the time and I'm really thankful to all of them. You'll be surprised to know that not a single retake was re-done because of my Italian dialogues!"
Taxi No 9 2 11 features her with Nana Patekar for the first time. How has her character shaped up in the film? She informs, "I play Sarita, Nana's wife, in the film. I am the driving force of the taxi that belongs to us. Nana Patekar is a very impossible character but deep down he is genuine. Sarita is a no nonsense woman."
What did she like about the film? Sonali says, "I play the love interest of John Abraham for a little while in the film, which is really humorous and interesting." Taxi No 9 2 11 is an action comedy and story of one night."
What next after Taxi No 9 2 11? She informs, "I am also part of Ram Gopal Varma'sDarna Zaroori Hai with Suneil Shetty and Rajpal Yadav. Then there's MF Hussain's The Making of the Painter, where I play this painter's second wife. Currently I am busy shooting for Manoj G's Kaaran along with Deepti Naval and Seema Biswas. The film is woman oriented and is about the lives of devdasis. There are also two Marathi films that I am doing. Life is really going great for me!"
Why has Sonali restricted herself to only art or issued based films? Doesn't she like to enjoy the commercial cinema? "Well! In fact, all my filmmakers have liked my earlier films and come to me with author-backed roles. I'm an emotional person by heart and issue-based films touch my soul and I commit to them. However, I want all the filmmakers to know that I really am looking for good commercial ventures! And the way films are being offered to me I'm really happy about it," she discloses.
Sonali is happy, glowing and content with her life!
