It may be recalled that four persons were killed near Reotipur polling centre on March 1. A BJP and three SP workers had been killed in the clash.

The polling for the election began amid tight security on Sunday morning. Police and Central security personnel were deployed in and around the polling centre today. The polling for Sadar Development Block had not been held on March 1 as per the directive of the Election Commission.

The election of Reotipur polling centre where violence had broken out on March 1 was also scheduled to be held on Sunday but it was further postponed by the Election Commission on Saturday evening after all the necessary preparations for the election on Sunday.

The SP had bagged nine seats during the election for 14 development blocks of Ghazipur on March 1.
