"We condemn the recent statements made by Mayawati on Mahatma Gandhi. Mayawati and Bahujan Samaj Party have no contribution in the freedom struggle. She should not forget that it is due to Mahatma Gandhi that democracy is in India and she is sitting on the CM's chair," Yadav told reporters here.

On the recent police encounter in which dreaded dacoit Ghanshyam Kewat was killed, he said, "It surprises me how it took so long to kill one dacoit. Now we want that the government should finish the rehabilitation work in the villages at the earliest."
