Additional chief judicial magistrate Anil Kumar Shukla, however, released MLA Sayed Abbas Ali Zaidi alias Rushi Miyan on bail.

The judge sentenced Miyan and his 11 associates to two years in jail for attacking a police party to get an accused released from police custody.

The MLA, after getting the bail, said he would appeal against the judgement in a higher court.

The case was filed on November five, 2000 by a police sub-inspector posted at Rudauli police station.
