SP, RLD give Kalam letter of support

SP-RLD combine, with 39 MPs, met the President to hand over letter of support for Cong-led alliance to form next Govt.

The Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal combine, having 39 MPs, on Monday met President APJ Abdul Kalam and handed over to him a letter of support for the Congress-led alliance headed by Sonia Gandhi in the formation of the next Government.

"We have lessened the burden of Sonia Gandhi by submitting directly to the President the letter of support," SP general secretary Amar Singh and RLD president Ajit Singh told reporters in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan.
