The SP leaders have decided to stage a state-wide demonstration at district headquarters to expose the failure of the Union Government.
Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, state minister Jaiprakash Yadav claimed that rising popularity of the SP was bothering the opposition parties. He said that the excellent performance of the party and its pro-people programmes caused worries to the opposition parties who were trying to tarnish the image of the SP.
Yadav brushed aside the opposition allegations that the SP government had ignored eastern UP while allocating funds to carry out the development projects.
He said that for the first time the State Government had established a research centre for Japanese Encephalitis at BRD Medical College and ensured compensation for those who suffered from the disease and for the family members who died of it.
He said it was the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led government which paved the way for inspection of the BRD Medical College by the Medical Council of India and reiterated that there would no shortage of teachers.
Yadav said that the State Government had for first time introduced the suggestions of Tikku Commission in all the medical colleges and around 150 teachers would be recruited soon.
Replying to a question, SP MLC Ganesh Shanker Pandey said that health and education was on the top priority of the government. Criticising the Union Government for rising the prices of petroleum products, he said that people would be the worst sufferer, as the prices for essential commodities would go up.
