INDORE WILL take on Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) in the inaugural match of the prestigious 31st Udai Iftekhar All India Cricket Tournament at Bab-e-Aali Stadium on March 27. The stadium is all spruced up to host the 13-day event.

INDORE WILL take on Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) in the inaugural match of the prestigious 31st Udai Iftekhar All India Cricket Tournament at Bab-e-Aali Stadium on March 27. The stadium is all spruced up to host the 13-day event.

The tournament is organised every year in the memory of the late Syed Iftekhar Ali who played cricket for Bhopal. The players of Indore and PSEB came to the stadium today for net practice. Both teams worked hard and a close contest expected tomorrow. “Though it is our first visit to Bhopal, the preparations and presence of renowned teams in the tournament makes the contest entertaining for the spectators”, said PSEB skipper Lakhbir Singh.

The Indore team studded with the Ranji Trophy stars is enthusiastic with the speedster Munis Ansari. “He will be a part of the playing XI on Monday. I am expecting a close fight”, said Indore team coach Rajesh Singh Chauhan. In a11, 14 leading

clubs of the country including Indian Airlines, Navy Mumbai, PSEB Punjab, Baroda XI, Gujarat, UP, Jhansi, Lucknow, BSNL, Irani Club, IPC XI, Indore Division, Gwalior Division, Sonnet Club and St Michael’s Cricket Academy have been invited by the organisers for the tourney.

State BJP president Satyanarayan Jatia will be the chief guest of the opening ceremony. On the occasion, Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia and Environment Minister Jayant Malaiya will be the guests of honour. MPCA secretary Sanjay Jagdale and Mayor Sunil Sood will be the special guests.

BDCA chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh, secretary Dr Shafquat Mohammad Khan, organising committee secretary Rajat Mohan Verma, Hamidullah Khan ‘Mamu’ and other office-bearers today visited the stadium for the final inspection.
