CONGRESS LEGISLATURE Party (CLP) leader Pramod Tiwari on Monday called the State Government anti-farmer and said it was working as an agent of industrialists.
The Congress would support farmers in their fight to get back land allocated to the Dadri power plant, he said.
Tiwari was leading a dharna by party workers at Patel Park here on Monday. The State Government was selling prime land of farmers to favoured industrialists, he alleged.
A memorandum, under the banner of the Kisan Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti, was later sent to Governor TV Rajeswar. It was signed by Tiwari and former UP organisation secretary Satyadev Tripathi.
The memorandum said the State Government was selling prime agriculture land to industrialists for a song. This had led to resentment among farmers all over the State, it said. Farmers across the state were on the warpath, the memorandum added.
Meanwhile, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today flayed the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government for the deteriorating law and order situation.
A CLP meeting, presided over by CLP leader Pramod Tiwari, was held here to discuss various issues of public interest. The style of functioning of the Mulayam government was anti-poor, Tiwari alleged and added that resentment was brewing among the people against the anti-people policies of the government.
“The poor and the farmers suffer, the Mulayam government has no control over the deteriorating situation,” he said.
He accused the government of forcibly acquiring farmers’ land for the Dadri power plant. This was done to appease the industrialists, he alleged.
A resolution mourning the death of shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan was also passed at the meeting.
