STATE PRESIDENT of Vidyut Mazdoor Sangathan RS Rai has blamed the policies of the State Government for the present gloomy scenario of electricity in the State. He said the government was concerned about giving benefits to the corporate sector, while ignoring the problems faced by people due to rostering.
While inaugurating the day-long annual seminar of the Vidyut Mazdoor Sangathan at the Power Corporation office, he said the government had stopped Anpara-C project to provide benefits to a particular company.

He accused the government of ill-treating Power Corporation employees and demanded to merge 50 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) in the basic salaries of employees and to increase their service period.

Rai said around 45,000 posts were lying vacant in the department and demanded that the State Government take the initiative to fill the posts to improve production and streamline the power distribution system.

He said if the government did not pay heed to their long-pending demands, the Sangathan would launch a movement against the government next month.

District secretary of the Sangthan, Shambhu Sharan Srivastav, handed over an 11-point memorandum to the GM, Power Corporation, demanding the basic
facilities in the Hydel colony.

Later, deputy GM, Kalamuddin, promised promotion to the employees.
Sangathan leader KP Singh, Helaluddin, Prakbhakar Pandey and others also expressed their views on the occasion.

Meanwhile, expressing displeasure over unscheduled power rostering, corporator Nabiullah Ansari demanded uninterrupted power supply on Wednesday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

He said power rostering in the morning should be suspended as it would also hamper water supply in various localities.

He added that power rostering at night should be suspended on Makar Sankranti as lakhs of devotes would offer ‘khichdi’ at Gorakhnath temple.
