STF jawan killed in militant attack

A policeman has been killed when militants attacked a Special Task Force (STF) patrolling party in Ramban district.

A policeman was killed when militants attacked a Special Task Force (STF) patrolling party in Ramban district on Monday.

The STF party was returning back from an operation when militants ambushed them by opening heavy fire from a hill top in Bityal area in Gool teshil of Ramban district, official sources said.

In the ambush, STF jawan Gagandeep Sharma was hit by a volley of bullet and died on the spot, they said adding STF men fired back forcing militants to escape from the spot.

Sharma's body is being brought to his native place Jammu.
