Stop female foeticide: Mishra

SP MP Janeshwar Mishra said here on Monday that doctors who were involved female foeticides should be given face life term. Addressing the people at a social awareness gathering held as part of the UNICEF-backed programme ?Save Girls?, he said female foeticide should be stopped and girls should be made self-sufficient.

Addressing the people at a social awareness gathering held as part of the UNICEF-backed programme ‘Save Girls’, he said female foeticide should be stopped and girls should be made self-sufficient. Mishra urged the women to stand up against any kind of injustice. He laid stress on the need for overcoming the social evils by adhering to the family values. “Religious rituals, too, showcase biasness against women who should take pledge against fighting any kind of oppression,” he added.

Activists of various social organisations participated in the programme organized by the State Social Welfare Board at NCZCC. Former minister Shatruddh Prakash said female foeticide was the symptom of disturbed state of mind.

Anjana Prakash, president of State Social Welfare Board, UP said although girls were obedient, boys were given priority in every field.
