"The incident of stone pelting at Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabadi Express, in which Rahul was travelling, near Panipat a week ago is a serious matter," he told reporters here.

The former Indian Youth Congress President said Rahul is a promising leader and the country desperately needs him. Thus his security shouldn't be compromised, Bitta said.

Amidst the austerity drive underway at the Centre, Bitta asked the party leadership not to get carried away by "sycophants" over Rahul's train journeys.
