Apropos of Prem Shankar Jha’s article It’s gone too far (June 19), I fail to understand why the government can’t check Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. We do not want even an inch of Pakistani area. But can’t we destroy all the terrorists’ hideouts as well as their training camps in PoK? Shockingly, Sonia Gandhi is going to open one more ‘gate’ between Poonch and Ravalkot. This will only encourage import of drugs, fake currency and weapons.

Prem Shankar Jha appears to have avoided any reference to the killing of hundreds of innocent Pandits at the hands of terrorists leading to their mass exodus. Kashmiri separatists who shed crocodile tears after every incident must be pressurised to call upon the militants to give up arms and leave Kashmiris to prove their commitment to peace.

Untimely comments

The Army Vice-Chief Lt Gen S Pattabhiraman’s comment on the death of Lt S Chakravorty (Army can do without women, June 17) is unfortunate. But what about the male officers who have committed suicide in the recent past? If only the authorities would investigate the psychological factors affecting army personnel instead of making generalised comments about gender differences, then our soldiers would fight the enemies and not their own fears.

Realise reality

The report Get ready to fly over Delhi (June 17), makes no mention of how we will get rid of pot-holed roads, dirty unauthorised colonies and markets, the garbage, and deal with the shortage of water and power. Perhaps we should stop dreaming about having cities comparable to Shanghai and LA.
