Supply chopper crashes, pilot injured

A private helicopter carrying relief material for the rain-affected people in Rudraprayag on Friday crashed near Gaurikund injuring the pilot.

A private helicopter carrying relief material for the rain-affected people in Rudraprayag on Friday crashed near Gaurikund injuring the pilot.

Inspector general of police Ram Singh Meena said the mishap occurred in the Jungle Chatti area near Gaurikund. The pilot has been admitted to the Jollygrant Hospital here for treatment.

Meanwhile, Air India and Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited (PHHL) have pressed additional resources into service to help in search, rescue and evacuation operations.

The PHHL has deployed three helicopters in rescue operation. Air India has started operating additional flights from Dehradun to bring back those stranded and is offering concessional fares to the affected people.
