Suzlon buys Belgian firm for ?465 mn

The deal gives the Indian company indirect ownership of Hansen Transmissions International NV, world's second largest maker of gear boxes.

In an effort to consolidate its position in the fast growing wind power industry, Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturer Suzlon Energy has acquired Belgium's EVE Holding NV for €465 million.

The Belgian deal which is India's second largest foreign corporate takeover gives the Indian company indirect ownership of Hansen Transmissions International NV, the world's second largest maker of industrial and wind turbine generator gear boxes, along with subsidiaries in Britain, Australia, Brazil, the United States and South Africa, India News in Europe Programme reported on Tuesday.
