Sweltering summer sends people scurrying indoors

FRIDAY RECORDED the hottest day of this year as the maximum day temperature rose to 41.8 degrees Celsius. It was the fifth time that the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in Varanasi in the month of April this year. Saturday recorded 40.8 degrees Celsius as maximum temperature and 20.4 as minimum.

As per the reports of the Metereological Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.2 degrees Celsius here on Friday.Humidity was recorded at 65 per cent.The maximum day temperature was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday whereas the minimum day temperature touched 19.0 degrees Celsius.

Earlier, on April 3, the maximum day temperature was recorded at 40.8 degrees Celsius whereas the minimum temperature was recorded 17.3 degrees Celsius.

Almost all the roads of the city wore a deserted look in the noon on Friday and also on Saturday. Denizens preferred to confine themselves to their houses in view of the soaring temperature and those who dared to come out on the roads were seen covering their faces with scarves and umbrellas.
