The heroin was found in the gas tank of a truck bound for the Moscow region in Russia.
Tajikistan, a former Soviet republic in central Asia, neighbours Afghanistan, the world's leading heroin producer and has become a centre for smuggling Afghan drugs to Russia and the West.
A drugs agency spokesman said that 3.7 tonnes of Afghan drugs were intercepted in the first nine months of this year, including 1.6 tonnes of heroin.
