But SRN Hospital lacks adequate facilities

ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR (Health) Allahabad division Dr GC Srivastava instructed the district hospitals to make adequate arrangements for the dengue patients.
Addressing the divisional review meeting of the vector-borne diseases here on Tuesday, Dr Srivastava said every patient, admitted to the dengue ward, should get mosquito net and other facilities including medicines, he said.
Dr Srivastava said the chief medical officers of Allahabad, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi should closely monitor all the suspected dengue cases. They should make frequent visit of their areas to identify malaria and dengue cases, he said.
The CMOs, dy CMOs and chief medical superintendents of all the district hospitals were present at the meeting.
However, SRN, the most important hospital of the district, does not have proper facilities to deal with the dengue patients.
Thus, the patients, admitted to the hospital, are facing a lot of problems due to poor facilities. Ironically, the four-bedded dengue ward of the SRN Hospital has only one fan.
The patients’ attendants do not have proper place to sit. The toilets of the wards are very dirty. Meanwhile, the deadly dengue gripped the Mumfordganj area of the city. According to reports, two children from Mumfordganj, Swati (14) and Sarju (15), who were down with dengue-like symptoms, were undergoing treatment at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital.
They will go through dengue test tomorrow. The relative of a hospital employee, down with high temperature, was undergoing treatment at the SRN’s dengue ward.
The two patients, who tested positive for dengue, were Arvind Kumar Mishra of Pratapgarh and Miraj of Kareli. Both the patients were treated at the OPD of SRN Hospital, informed additional chief medical officer (vector- borne diseases) Dr RB Singh. Dr Singh said the health department would conduct fogging in Mumfordganj area. Two more children in the age group of five to seven years have been admitted to the SN Children’s Hospital, with dengue-like symptoms.
