Taxis outside airports may soon be equipped with electronic chips to track the movement of vehicles, said Mahesh Sharma, culture and tourism minister.

"We will first experiment with international tourists and then move forward to domestic tourists also," he said after assuming charge on Wednesday.

India, he said had a rich cultural heritage and efforts would be spruced to bring back our cultural property.

Expressing concern over bottlenecks, especially in international tourism, he said that providing adequate infrastructure and security technology will be the focus over the next three months.

"India has world class doctors and we should take advantage of this talent pool to promote medical tourism... The Indian youth is directed to foreign destinations, we should make domestic destinations equally attractive for them."

He also said, "We will try to establish an India Habitat Centre in Noida."
