TDP leaders of Ananthapur distict, who met here last night, decided to launch a "Chalo Paragodu" stir and march into neighbouring Kolar district to protest against the "illegal construction" of the dam, TDP sources said here on Monday.

The rally would be led by animal husbandry minister Nimmala Kistappa, five MLAs and Ananthapur MP K Srinivasulu, besides thousands of party workers, the sources said.

Before finalising the programme, Kistappa and Srinivasulu met Chief minsiter N Chandrababu Naidu for approval of the rally, sources said adding that the party members would converge at Kodikonda checkpost on the Andhra- Karnataka border and hold a public meeting.

They would later march to Paragodu which is about ten km to hold a peaceful rally, the sources said.

Earlier, BJP leaders of Ananthapur district too tried to organise a similar rally but were blocked at the border by the Karnataka government.
