The shameful incident took place on July 24 at the Nurpur Tapra village in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district, 80 km from state capital Bhopal.

The standard five students complained that the teacher Sanjeev Sharma, 32, misbehaved with them in a room, after calling two students at a time. Once he made them remove their upper clothes, he took the measurements with his fingers, they said.

The one-teacher school is run for Saharia tribal children under the state government’s education guarantee scheme. When the outraged parents reached the school the next day, they found it locked as Sharma had fled after locking it.

Kashi Bai Saharia, mother of one of the girls, said the teacher called her daughter to a deserted room and made her take her shirt off. He then allegedly molested her.

The parents, who work in a stone quarry, informed district education officer Manish Verma about the incident. Verma said the preliminary probe conducted led by Ganj Basoda Tehsildar Kiran Badbade found Sharma prima facie guilty.
Sharma has been sacked.

On Wednesday he was arrested and booked under Section 354 for molestation and sent on judicial custody.
