Teenager shoots self, critical
THE SON of the Akbarpur Tehsildar tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head with the licensed revolver of his father, here at his residence in Shastri Nagar, under the Kakadev police station, on Sunday. According to Kakadev police, the condition of Ankit Maurya (19) was critical and he was admitted to a private nursing home in Kakadev. Police has also seized the revolver.

According to Kakadev police, the condition of Ankit Maurya (19) was critical and he was admitted to a private nursing home in Kakadev. Police has also seized the revolver.
Sources said that Siya Ram Maurya is Tehsildar at Akbarpur and is a tenant here in Shastri Nagar, at the house of one Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Mishra. According to reports, Ankit was preparing for Joint Entrance Examination of Engineering and was studying at a coaching in Pandu Nagar.
On Sunday morning Siya Ram Maurya admonished his son Ankit for not attending the coaching classes for some days. After that when all of the family members were sitting on the terrace under sun, Ankit took out the licensed revolver kept in the briefcase of his father and shot himself.
Immediately after the incident, family members rushed Ankit to LLR Hospital, where doctors declared him extremely critical. Family members then admitted Ankit to a nursing home where doctors said that he was not out of danger.
Meanwhile, a source in the police department said that not attending coaching for the last few days might not be the only reason behind Ankit’s act. The source did not rule out the possibility of a love affair behind today’s incident.
