Tehri Garhwal byelection on Feb 21

The election has been necessitated following the death of sitting BJP member Manabendra Shah, reports Anil Anand.

Bye-election to Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency would be held on February 21 along with Uttarakhand Assembly polls. This was announced by the Election Commission on Monday.

The election has been necessitated following the death of sitting BJP member Manabendra Shah on January 5.

According to the poll schedule, the notification would be issued on January 25. While the last date for filing nominations would be on February one, the scrutiny will be on the following day.

Last date for withdrawal of candidature would be on February 5.
The counting of votes will take place on February 27.
