Accused Ram Ratan Soni, in his application has sought that Deshmukh, presently Union minister should be made an accused in the fake stamp paper scam along with officers from the Special Investigating Team (SIT) Sanjeev Bhole, Sanjay Barve, Subodh Jaiswal and S S Puri.

Special judge Chitra Bedi has sought a reply from the prosecution on July 23.

Soni in the application has said Deshmukh had "abused" his position as the revenue minister and had taken "active undue interest for getting the licence in favour of Telgi".

It further states that the SIT did not investigate the alleged role of several government servants including police officials, politicians and those using the fake stamps.
