Temple doors closed in Guj due to lunar eclipse

Various temples in Gujarat were closed on Wednesday afternoon on account of the rarest and longest lunar eclipse late night.

Various temples in Gujarat were closed on Wednesday afternoon on account of the rarest and longest lunar eclipse late night.

The famous Ranchhodji temple at Dkor and Datratay temple at Garudeshwar, the Shiv temple at Kayavarohan near Vadodara, the Ambaji temple at Banaskantha, Somnath temple in Junagadh district among others will remain closed till 4.30am on Thursday morning, according to temple authorities here.

After the temple doors are opened, a 'shuddhi' (cleansing) ritual would be performed which would be followed by an Aarti and darshan of Gods and Goddesses. Visitors would be allowed only after 7am, they said.
