TENDU LEAF pluckers in MP would be paid Rs nine crore as bonus for 2004. This is 60 per cent of the total profit earned in the year and is 10 per cent more than decided earlier.
According to an official release issued in Bhopal today, the State Cabinet in its recent meeting has decided to pay 60 per cent bonus instead of 50 per cent to tendu leaf pluckers for 2004.
Subsequently, the pluckers would now get Rs nine crore bonus against the earlier proposed Rs 7.5 crore, the release mentioned. About 25 lakh standard bags of tendu leaves had been collected in 2004. All the tendu leaves collected have so far been sold off accruing a profit of Rs 15 crore.
Earlier, it had been decided to pay 50 per cent, that is Rs 7.5 crore, to the pluckers but now the State Cabinet has decided to increase the percentage of bonus to 60 per cent and thus the pluckers would be paid Rs nine crore.
