The senior Cong leader Dr Manmohan Singh asserted that there was a deep crisis within the BJP over the leadership issue.
Terming as hollow the BJP's poll plank to provide a stable government at the Centre, senior Congress leader and former finance minister, Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday asserted that there was a deep crisis within the BJP over the leadership issue.
In a scathing attack on the BJP, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, Dr. Singh, who was in the city to address an intellectuals meet in favour of Congress nominee Rana Gurjit Singh, said that the BJP was facing serious leadership crisis from within which was evident from the fact that the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had himself announced that people knew, “who will be my successor”.
“There is some tension within the BJP over the issue of Vajpayee's successor and their claim to provide a stable government at the Centre is hollow, “Dr Singh claimed adding that Congress alone could provide a stable government to lead the country on the path of overall development”.
He also dismissed exit poll results after third round of polling and claimed that the people of the country would overwhelmingly vote for it to help form a Congress-led secular government.
