"The 30 employees were arrested as they planned to carry out terrorist activities against innocent people," the ministry said in a statement.

The employees were picked up from Baghdad's Hamara hotel located in the centre of the Iraqi capital.

The hotel houses offices of many international companies, including media organisations.
