This Valentine’s Day, pink’s the colour of love
It’s been six months since the Delhi High Court decriminalised homosexuality and the city’s gay couples have the perfect occasion to celebrate all over again — Valentine’s Day this Sunday. The party circuit’s buzzing and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) communities plan to paint the town pink, reports Rajesh Ahuja.
It’s been six months since the Delhi High Court decriminalised homosexuality and the city’s gay couples have the perfect occasion to celebrate all over again — Valentine’s Day this Sunday.
The party circuit’s buzzing and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) communities plan to paint the town pink.
“The Valentine’s Day party at Polka - The Club in Kailash Colony will be grand,” said Manish Sharma of ‘BoyZone’, one such community. “There’ll be interesting cocktails and a video jockey and disc jockey to up the mood.”
‘Queer Delhi’ is organising a theme party with a red and blue dress code at The Jazz Lounge in Ai, Saket. “The idea is to have a romantic nightout with friends without making it a commercial bash,” said Mohnish Malhotra, a member.
Those not in the mood for loud partying have planned quiet gatherings. “Twenty of us will head to a friend’s
farmhouse in Chattarpur for a barbeque bash. Wine, kebabs, music — can’t get more romantic,” said Sushma Minocha, an MBA student.
Lifestyle brands are adding to the festivities. Gift-shop chain Archies has introduced cards for homosexuals.
