Four persons were killed and hundreds of houses were damaged when violent thunderstorm accompanied by cyclone struck parts of south Mizoram, official sources said on Tuesday.

Two persons were killed in the fury while two others were taken away by a flash flood known as 'Saberekakhuangkaih' in Cherhlun village on Monday, the sources said.
The bodies of the two persons swept away by flash flood were yet to be recovered, they said.
Over 200 houses in the village were damaged by the strong wind, they added.
The storm also completely destroyed a Church and a hall in north western Mamit town while five houses were damaged at Zemabawk near Aizawl.
Meanwhile, hailstorm hit the capital Aizawl city and surrounding villages yesterday but the extent of damage was yet to be ascertained as the district officials were completely engaged with the poll process.
