Tiwari blames centre for power crisis in MP

Uttaranchal chief minister ND Tiwari on Thursday blamed the centre for the power crisis in Madhya Pradesh and asked people not to be misled by BJP campaign while voting in next weeks's assembly polls.

Tiwari told reporters here that the public sector undertaking, powergrid corporation, which is under central government, decides the quantum of electricity to be allocated to different states.

The Congress leader said his state can provide 100 MW electricity to Madhya Pradesh but powergrid is selling only 50 MW power to it from Uttaranchal.

He said shortage of electricity is being felt all over the country and the phenomenon is not confined to Madhya Pradesh alone and added that power generaiton is an expensive and time consuming activity and people must realise government's limitations in this regard after carving out of Chhattisgarh.

He asked the people of Madhya Pradesh to take into account the overall development process instead of confining to one or two areas only and elect a government capable of providing able an mature leadership for progress.

Describing chief minister Digvijay Singh as a dynamic and able leader, Tiwari told reporters here that BJP is trying to mislead people through its politics of rumours and propaganda.

On power crisis, he said shortage of electricity is being felt all over the country and the phenomenon is not confined to Madhya Pradesh alone.
