Though the total withdrawal of power cut for LT industries and reduction of Maximum Demand cut from 40 to 30 per cent to HT consumers is a welcome step, the continued power cuts in other forms, like reintroduction of two hours loadshedding daily, have put industries into lot of hardship, it said.

TNEB has reintroduced two hours daily load shedding for all consumers including domestic consumers, which had been withdrawn on May 5, Chamber president, Mahendra Ramadas, said in a statement in Coimbatore.

The result was increase in power cut by eight per cent for the HT industry in addition to the existing 30 per cent for LT and other consumers,he said.

Stating that when electricity minister announced that the power situation had drastically improved, he said it was surprising to note that the two hour load shedding and peak hour restrictions continued. He urged the government to clarify and withdraw the two hour power cut and peak hour restriction.
