TN govt gears up security

Tamil Nadu government machinery was geared up to ensure that normal life was not affected during the bandh called by opposition parties tomorrow to protest the fuel prices hike, police sources said in Chennai today.

Tamil Nadu government machinery was geared up to ensure that normal life was not affected during the bandh called by opposition parties tomorrow to protest the fuel prices hike, police sources said in Chennai on Sunday.

All important public places, including railway stations, airports and bus stands, would be provided with police protection, the sources said.

Additional police bandobust would be provided and protection would be provided to running buses, if necessary, they said.

The government had warned of severe action against those who attempt to disrupt normal life.

AIADMK, Left parties and their allies besides BJP have called for the strike. PMK, an erstwhile ally of DMK, has decided against participating in the strike, describing it as a politically motivated.
